Nitrogen is an essential element that occurs abundantly in the Earth’s atmosphere. It is now used in manufacturing different industrial products. Hence, MVS Engineering Pvt. Ltd provides onsite nitrogen generators at affordable prices to all corporate clients. Two varieties of nitrogen generators are provided by MVS Engineering, namely the PSA nitrogen plant and the membrane nitrogen plant.
A PSA nitrogen generator ensures a continuous supply of highly pure nitrogen at manufacturing sites. This nitrogen plant is made by applying Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology, which is offered by CarboTech, a leading chemical company in Germany. A membrane nitrogen generator is preferred when a very high flow, but low purity of nitrogen gas is needed. It is made with the help of Air Liquide’s membrane technology.
Both varieties of nitrogen generators are comparatively more cost-effective than buying nitrogen gas cylinders or liquid nitrogen. These onsite nitrogen generators produce nitrogen at the cost of Rs 3 per Nm3, which is far lower than buying market nitrogen gas from cylinders.
Some factors that decide the cost of a nitrogen generator
Size of an air compressor
The atmospheric air is compressed under high pressure before going through the procedure of separating nitrogen from oxygen and other gases. A larger air compressor is needed to separate a higher volume of nitrogen gas from the air, which is costlier than a small compressor.
Volume of a gas tank
When a large nitrogen tank is installed in a nitrogen generator, it is capable of supplying a higher amount of gas. Though a constant flow of nitrogen gas occurs from the generator to application sites, the volume of the intermittent gas tank is important to hold the gas before delivering it through pipelines.
Effective air dryer
It is essential to fit an air dryer in a nitrogen generator, to get absolutely dry nitrogen. Though PSA and membrane generators can produce dry nitrogen gas, this dryer can ensure 100% elimination of water vapor. Thus, it is installed to maintain the high quality of produced nitrogen gas.
Production capacity – The price of a gas generator directly depends on its capacity for production. A nitrogen generator with the capacity to produce a large quantity of nitrogen is more expensive compared to that producing a small amount of nitrogen. Thus, customers need to specify their requirements of production capacity, which is a deciding factor of the generator price.
Purity level of nitrogen – Normally, MVS Engineering designs all its nitrogen generators to produce 95% – 99.99% pure nitrogen. The generator that can produce nitrogen of the highest purity level should be costlier than the device producing nitrogen gas of lower purity level.
Technology applied – Usually, MVS Engineering uses Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology or Membrane technology for pure nitrogen gas production. The use of a specific technology affects the price of the generator in the market. PSA nitrogen generator is the most popular one and it has been manufactured with German collaboration since the 1970s. Membrane technology is needed for very high purity level of nitrogen and it was introduced in the 1980s. Cryogenic technologies are applied in the generator producing liquid nitrogen, in collaboration with US and Dutch companies. These technologies decide the efficiency of the nitrogen generators, which help in fulfilling bulk industrial requirements of nitrogen.
