But nitrogen helps to make high-quality stainless steel even without nickel. Nitrogen acts as a stabilizing factor for producing austenitic steel by replacing nickel. Nitrogen increases the durability of steel by making it resistant to corrosion. Thus, buyers find it profitable to use steel made by adding nitrogen to it.
