Functioning Style of a PSA Nitrogen Generating System

Nitrogen is an important inert gas that fills 78% of the Earth’s atmosphere. Due to its unique properties, nitrogen is used in various commercial fields. Bulk quantities of nitrogen are required to fulfill demands in many industries. MVS Engineering provides an effective nitrogen generating system that can function continuously. So, a steady supply of pure nitrogen gas is available from this onsite nitrogen generator.

The operating method of an MVS Engineering nitrogen generator

MVS Engineering has adopted the technology of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) from its German collaborator CarboTech. The N2 generation package of this onsite plant is entirely based on PSA technology, which has been updated since its first application in 1984.

The sole aim of this N2 generation system is to isolate nitrogen gas from the atmospheric air, eliminating all other gases. Two steel vessels are filled with carbon molecular sieves and activated alumina, which are used as PSA units. Air is compressed in an air compressor and then cooled in a cooling chamber. Then this compressed and cooled air is passed through the units of this N2 PSA system, to separate nitrogen from other components of air.

Usually, 95 to 99.99% purity is expected in the nitrogen gas produced from this nitrogen generation package. If a higher purity level is needed for any industrial application, nitrogen gas is passed through Purification Unit and Dryer Unit, to obtain dry and 99.9999% pure nitrogen.

Notable application of a PSA nitrogen generator

Many industries have now benefitted from the use of this PSA nitrogen generation unit of MVS Engineering. They receive a continuous supply of pure nitrogen that can be used to help in their production.

● Pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of adhesives and pesticides need to pack and store their products in an inert atmosphere. Nitrogen gas replaces oxygen and water vapor in the air inside those packages.

● Tire manufacturers now prefer to use nitrogen for their Curing process. Also, Nitrogen is being used for tyre filling instead of Air. The longevity of tires increases due to the pressure created by this inert gas. It also saves tires from oxidation and maintains the tire pressure for a longer span.
